Professional Qualifications
Ganabhooshanam in Mridangam (Diploma), Ganapraveena in Mridangam (Post Diploma), M.A. Music (Mridangam) in Mahatma Gandhi University, He had his initial training from his uncle Sri Gangadharan Nair then from Mridangam Maestro Sri Trivandrum V. Surendran (his elder brother) and Mridangam Maestro Mavelikara K. Velukutty Nair. Later he had systematic training in Mridangam playing in the Gurukula pattern under the guidanace of Padmavibhooshan Dr. Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman Sir
Teaching Experience
40 years of teaching experience. He is a curriculam committee member for music upto Higher Secondary Classes in Kerala. Faculty of Mahatma Gandhi University Examination Board, Sri Sankara University Examination Board member (Kalady) and subject expert in SCERT Govt of Kerala. Academic staff (Retd.) of the Sri Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Trivandrum. He conducts lecture demonstration programmes for the state cultural department. Recognized Guru of CCRT, New Delhi.

- He has accompanied accomplished artists like Professor Vechoor Harihara Subramaniya Iyer, Padmasree Professor Parasala Ponnamal, Professor Mavelikkara Prabhakara Varma Padmasree Neyyatinkara Vasudevan, Sri K.S. Gopalakrishnan (Flute), Professor Kumara Varma, Sri Perumbavoor Raveendranath Menon and many others
- Participated in many concerts in all over Germany, Holland (Amsterdam) and Austria (Viennam), in India Festival 1992 Conducted by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, accompanied the Flute artist Sri K.S.Gopalakrishnan (AIR) Trivandrum
- He has performed in leading institutions like Music Academy (Chennai), Indian Fine Arts Society (Chennai), Sree Swathi Thirunal Sangeetha Sabha (Trivandrum), Sri Chembai Music Festival in Guruvayoor Temple and many others
- Participated in more than thousand temple concerts in the State
- Participated in programmes conducted by the State Govt on Important occasions
- Participated in lecture demonstration programmes conducted by his Grate Guru Padmavibhooshan Umayalpuram K.Sivaraman in Chennai
