Founder of Bharathakshetra School of Dance and Music in India, Shri Jayan is an accomplished musician, dancer, choreographer and an excellent teacher of Indian dance and music. Along with his full-time involvement with his school in India, he works with special commissions for the local and national television in dance and theatre. Shri Jayan has been working as resident musician, guest choreographer, dancer and martial artist with Dance ihayami, uk from 2005. He has been teaching master classes in various dance forms, as well as music and martial arts.

Bharatham

‘Bharatham’ is Bharathakshetra’s own dance group resident in Thiruvananthapuram. The group along with different teachers from various art forms works closely in training and choreography. The group formerly performed all over India and has been presented on TV for various events. Bharatham has been formed in 2011 with some new faces and also dancers who were in Bharathakshetra for many years. The group gives young dancers from any discipline of dance ( folk, classical,cinematic,western ) the opportunity to improve their dance skills, explore collaborations with other art forms, work different choreographers, learning new moves and being creative.

KATHAKALI ‘N’ CLUB

A Kathakali club has been organised for performances and as a forum for discussion. The public with interest in the field of Kathakali is invited to this event, hosted at the premises of BharathaKshetra once a month.

Bharathakshetra, is a renowned Cultural Center of Thiruvanathapuram which is having a legacy of 38 years, Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra , the prime disciple of PadmaSree Guru Gopinath laid the foundation this esteemed organization, In the beginning days Bharathakshetra had a low strength of two Students; From 23rd April 1982 till now Bharathakshetra had grown up to a Famous Socially responsible Cultural Center with a Student Strength of more than 500 & more than 20 teachers in various Sections.

Bharathakshetra provides classes for classical dance forms like Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Keralanadanam, Ottan thullal & Kathakali. We also extends the learning opportunities for learning Mridangam, Keyboard, Thabala, Veena, Chenda, Guitar, Drums, Classical Music, Violin (both Western &Classical), Flute, Drawing, Painting and Kalaripayattu.

All the Classes are directly Under the guidance of Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra by experience & talented teachers from all over Kerala.

Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra had proved himself as a great Dancer and Choreographer through his variety Choreographies. He had invented new ideas & Styles in all his choreographies which proved to be great success.”Kalachakram”,“Kunchan Nambiar”,“ Aadikavya Natyanjali” are some of his compositions which Parade the talent of him.
The Classes are Scheduled according to the convenience of all sort of age groups, Bharathakshetra always encourages and Supports people who are Interested in Learning art forms.

Bharathakshetra’s Annual Programmes are really momentous One. We Celebrate 4 Days anniversary Celebrations connected with Vijayadasami. Vayllopalli Samskriti Bhavan, is the venue that Showcase the talents of the Students of Bharathakshetra. The Students redeem the art they acquired during the anniversary in the presence of esteemed guests from Social, Cultural and Political World. The encouragement & Support of dedicated teachers and the in depth backing by the Parents make the event a historic one.

In spite of considering the monetary benefits Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra is tremendously taking efforts to extent his role in the field of art too. Till the date be never attained any financial Support from Government or any other Organizations, As the world is in the midst of influence by Social media, only we are responsible for the protection our traditional art forms.

It’s high time for us to realize and accept the importance to Conserve the historical & ancestral art forms of Kerala.

The Importance of Institute like Bharathakshetra is valuable only if we are concerned about acquiring the knowledge about our traditional art forms more than a Foreigner. Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra after acquiring detailed Knowledge about different art forms took initiative for the up-liftment art. He owned many unique ideologies among which he could only fullfill very few by these 38 Years.

Kathakali, the traditional art form of Kerala is unduly losing its viewers. Bharathakshetra had initiated a “ Bharathakshetra Kathakali Club” for the encouragement of Kathakali learners & Provides them chances to Perform & View Kathakali along with detailed demonstration.

Bharathakshetra Kathakali club also extends chance to meet & perform with maestros of Kathakali. Bharathakshetra provides a great platform encouraging the reading habit of our Kids. A monthly Program Called “ Kavya Poojayum Sahithya Charchayum” for kids, under the leadership of Poets & Writers are arranged in our center. The Participants are guided by experts about writing poems and appreciatable Poems are awarded with prizes.

Bharathakshetra Serves as a venue for ‘Bhagavad Gita’ chanting by ladies. It helps them to maintain a friendly relation with Others & boost up their mental happiness.

Noteworthy matter for all the above Programmes is that Bharathakshetra is not Charging any kind of fees for conduction these events. These are only few goals of Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra that attained success.

We find out & offer free education of arts for talented kids from different schools. Bharathakshetra can be calculated as a Charitable Institution as we are also offering fee concession to kids who are financially low.

After realising the noticeable functioning of Bhararthakshetra Sri Kummanam Rajasekharan, the Present Mizoram governer had find out time to visit & to deliver valuable suggestions. Sri Sobha Surendran’s visit was also a notable one.Sri Rajasenan, renowned Malayalam movie director frequently visits the institution & evaluates the growth of it.

The dream of Bharathakshetra is a World acquired by a happy life style, with the knowledge about our traditional values and art. We have a great support team consisting more than 500 students from the age group of 3yrs to 70 yrs and an active team of 20 talented teachers to attain the dream. We also expect the support of people who thinks alike us, We do arrange the system of giving some ‘’Dakshina” (pension) for needy artists, which we await to spread.
